From one ex-FDLer to one who's about to be: I would read Marcy Wheeler and Bmaz if they published on stale papyrus and I was locked in a Red Keep dungeon. Marcy says she needs a bit of a change of pace after consistently producing the most rigorous textual sleuthing on the Internet, for years. (Proof? Ahem.) She'll launch a new blog separately from FDL imminently. Can't wait to read it.
Two pieces of unsolicited advice. First, slowing your pace up feels great at first and then bad after a while. I'm trying to no longer neglect this blog after a period of exhaustion with it and the necessities of focusing on Danger Room. You feel delinquent after a while. Rest up, recharge, regroup, renew. Second: you're gonna miss FDL. Like, a lot.
But the empire that Jane Hamsher built is going to be totally fine in a post-Marcy era, because Jane's the sort of person who can't help but expand and innovate. As long as there's injustice in this wicked world, Jane will find new ways to fight it. I'm privileged I got to be part of that fight for a time. (Plus, my God, you should hear her punk rock stories...) Hail to FDL.
